•Pleasant Agers will meet at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Calhoun County Wednesday, Mar. 19. Meet and greet at 11:30 a.m.  Pot luck meal at noon. Guest speaker will be Buddy McCammon. Everyone is invited. The church is four miles west Bruce on CR 231.

•QUICK BITES will meet Thursday, Mar. 20 at noon at the Multi-Purpose Building in Pittsboro. Program will be Mulching Mania.

•4-H Kids in the Kitchen club meeting will be Thursday, Mar. 20 at 3:30 p.m. at the Multi-Purpose Building in Pittsboro. Call 662-412-3177 for information.

•Yalobusha Historical Meeting is Thursday, Mar. 20, at 2 p.m. at the headquarters, the former Presbyterian Church.  Spencer Keith will talk about the Battle of Brice’s Crossroads June 1864.

•MHV CULTURAL ARTS items are due in the Extension Office by Friday, Mar. 21 to be judged Monday, Mar. 24. Cultural Arts will be on display Monday after lunch and Tuesday, Mar. 25. All entries must have been completed since last year’s Cultural Arts.

•Gardener’s Delight and Master Gardeners will meet Monday, Mar. 24, at 6:30 p.m. at the Multipurpose Building. Celeste Jordan, owner of The Greenery in Oxford, will discuss landscaping and raised beds. Master Gardeners will meet following the program. All welcome.

•Leader Training will be Tuesday, Mar. 25, at 10 a.m. with guest speaker Jeremy Martin, North MS Service Coordinator for the Secretary of State’s Office. He will be speaking on Voter ID Implementation in preparation for the Primary Election on June 3.

•Calhoun Fair BOARD meeting will be Tuesday, Mar. 25, at 6:30 p.m. at the Multi-Purpose Building in Pittsboro. Contact the Calhoun County Extension Office at 412-3177 for more information. All Calhoun County residents are invited to attend.

•MHV FASHION REVUE by the MHV Council will be Tuesday, Mar. 25 at 11 a.m. following the Leader Training program for all interested MHV members. All MHV revue contestants are asked to come dressed and ready to participate in the revue.

•QUICK BITES will meet Thursday, Mar. 27 at noon at the Multi-Purpose Building in Pittsboro. Program will be Consulting the Gazing Ball: Landscape and Garden Problems to Watch for in 2014.

•Artists and Crafters… Calhoun City Public Library, 113 East Burkitt Avenue, will be hosting a Crafts Bazaar Saturday, Apr. 5 beginning at 8 a.m. Local artists and crafters are urged to bring their handmade wares to the library for display and purchase. Reserving a space is free on a first come, first served basis. The only cost to you will be a 10% fee of your total sales for the day, which will go to the FRIENDS of the Calhoun City Public Library.  Call to reserve your spot: 414-7106 or 628-6331.

•ARE YOU DISABLED OR WERE BORN IN 1948 or before and have not signed up for Homestead Exemption for either of these credits? Come to the Tax Assessor’s Office in January, February or March and make these changes. Call 412-3148 for more information.

•FREE ADULT BASIC EDUCATION/GED preparation classes are held at Bruce Adult Education Center on Newburger Street. For info, call Ada Armstrong 414-6063 or the center, 983-2038. Classes meet Tuesday & Thursday. Day, 9-noon, night 5-8 p.m. Counseling 2 Career (C2) for ages 17-21 (out of school) is available. Teachers Ada Armstrong and Margaret Mays.

•BEAVER BOUNTY PROGRAM… Calhoun County Soil Conservation District is administering a beaver control program for landowners in Calhoun County. A $12.50 bounty will be paid for each beaver tail brought in. They must be brought in by landowner, who is required to sign verifying that these were removed from his property in Calhoun and show the site where caught on the map. Maximum number of beaver tails per landowner each year is 40. Trappers may be hired for assistance in beaver removal, but bounty is paid to the landowner. Call 628-8732 ext. 3 for more information.

•MAGNOLIA GIRLS STATE will be June 1-6 at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. Event is for high school juniors to learn the structure and responsibilities of state government using a learn by doing approach. •DERMA SCHOOL REUNION… Calhoun County Agricultural High School and Derma School will have a reunion Saturday, July 5 at 1 p.m. at the Multipurpose Bldg. in Pittsboro. More information will be released later.

•BRUCE HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1964 will have a 50-year-reunion Saturday, July 12 at Bruce Museum. Contact Rita at 662-983-7185, Sandra 662-414-7138 or Geneva at 662-983-2567.

•DOG LOVERS! LEAGUE FOR NO-KILL SHELTER meets the first Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at Bruce Park Pavillion. For info, call 983-7471.

•GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP meets the third Saturday of each month at Vardaman Family Life Center 10-11 a.m. Call 662-682-9992 or 662-414-7089 to register.

•CALHOUN ANTIQUE TRACTOR CLUB meets the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Vardaman Sweet Potato Festival building. Danny Tutor is club president. For more info, call 682-7594. Everyone is invited.

•ARE YOU A CANCER PATIENT? Calhoun Cares is an ongoing non-profit organization to benefit cancer patients. If you are currently taking cancer treatments and you live in Calhoun County, you are eligible for assistance. Contact Calhoun Cares, Tammy Tallant, 662-983-0864.

•LOOSA SCHOONA CHAPTER of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet the second Monday of each month from September through May at Jeffery’s on Bruce Square at 3:30 p.m. Meal is Dutch treat.

•FOSTER/ADOPT PROGRAM… safe and stable families are sought in Calhoun County for foster families. Contact Natalie Bryant at 628-412-3138 for info about the Mississippi Department of Human Services Resource program.

•CALHOUN CITY AMERICAN LEGION POST #50 and American Legion Auxiliary Post 50 meet the first Monday of every month at 7 p.m. Meal at 6:30 p.m.

•WEIGHT WATCHERS?IN BRUCE meets every Monday night at 5:30 p.m. at Jody’s Dance Studio.

•ANTIOCH LODGE 549… first Monday at 7:30 p.m.

•CALHOUN CITY VFW POST 12032 meets every 4th Thursday at 7 p.m. in the old Kellwood Outlet store building on N. Madison in Calhoun City.
