The Vardaman Lady Rams will open class 1A playoff action Thursday when they host Myrtle in game one of a best-of-three series at 6 p.m.

Games two, and three if necessary, will be played at Myrtle on Friday beginning at 5 p.m. The winner of the series will advance to play Jumpertown in the second round of the playoffs next week.
“It’s going to come down to pitching and defense,” Vardaman Coach Billy Dill said. “We haven’t been consistent on defense all season, but I still think we’re capable.”
The Lady Rams, 11-12 overall, finished third in what Dill calls the toughest region in 1A with Hamilton and Smithville.
“Nobody we see in the playoffs will have seen the kind of competition we’ve gone against,” Dill said. “If we play up to our potential, I believe we can play with anybody.”
The Lady Rams beat Myrtle 7-2 Monday in a regular season game. Sydney Huffman earned the win for Vardaman.
Huffman and Grace Edmondson each had two hits. Edmondson, Huffman, Jessica Rodgers and Cheyenne McKiney each had a double.
