Odean Hardin Helms, 93, of Slate Springs, died April 23, 2014 at Calhoun Health Services in Calhoun City. She was born September 26, 1920 in Calhoun County, the daughter of Grady Hardin and Maude Vance Hardin. A homemaker, she was one of the oldest members, church clerk and treasurer for over 50 years of Spring Hill Baptist Church; She enjoyed crocheting and knitting and her pleasure was giving these to people. She enjoyed being with her family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include one daughter, Brenda (Terry) Biffle, Fulton; one son, Eddie (Pam) Helms, Slate Springs; three grandchildren: Derrell (Crystal) Biffle, Fulton; Jerrell (Trish) Biffle, Fulton, and Sonny (Sharon) Pryor, Brandon; seven great grandchildren, Erin, Adison, Kade, Trey, Brooks Biffle, all of Fulton, and Ashley and Avery Pryor, both of Brandon. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, James “Truett” Helms, and two brothers. Visitation will be Saturday, April from 1 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. at Pryor Funeral Home in Calhoun City. Bro. Jimmy Vance will be officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery in Slate Springs. Pallbearers will be Wood Spencer, Corey Vance, Willie Jobe West, Scott West, Clay West and Ethan Nanney. Honorary pallbearers will be David May, Staff of Bruce Community Living Center, Burl Hardin, Mickey West, Terrell Hardin, Shelton Williams and Thomas Latham.
