A Pittsboro man was arrested Saturday for providing marijuana to a Calhoun County inmate who was returning to the jail from a work detail.
Chaz Welch, 26, was arrested security cameras caught him driving up to the jail and handing inmate Terrance Willis marijuana. A deputy immediately confronted the Willis in the jail and confiscated the marijuana.
Willis is charged with introducing contraband into a correctional facility.
A search warrant was obtained for Welch’s residence on CR 300 in Pittsboro where officers found marijuana and a set of scales.
Welch was charged with possession of marijuana with intent, possession of beer, possession of paraphernalia, and introducing contraband into a correctional facility.
