The Bruce Lady Trojans made easy work of first round opponent Coahoma County and will now prepare to meet Riverside in the second round of the class 2A playoffs.
The Lady Trojans swept the opening round series 12-1 and 11-0.
“I was glad we were able to get it done in two games,” Bruce Coach Angie Owen said. “Riverside, however, will pose a bigger challenge. They will be a well balanced team with good pitching. Their catcher has a rocket arm and is a Delta State signee. We’ll have to have two ‘A games’ to advance against this team.”
The Lady Trojans got “A games” against Coahoma with four home runs in game one – two by Jessica Aron, one from Bailey Massey and another from Haley Hubbard.
Abbie Patton and Logan Collins also had multiple hits in the game one win. Abby Free earned the win on the mound.
Caitlyn Burt earned the win in game two. Patton hit two home runs to lead the offense. She also hit two singles and Janey Aron added two singles.
LaDestiny Carter, Julianna Cain, Caitlyn Burt, Emily Logan and Haley Hubbard all had hits in the game as well.
Game one of the series with Riverside is scheduled to be played Wednesday afternoon at Bruce Park.
Games two and three, if necessary, will be played at Riverside.
