Calhoun County players stood out at the NEMBCA All Star basketball game in Booneville last weekend earning several awards.
Terrance Jones, of Bruce, was named the best defensive player in the boys’ small classification game. Jones is a football signee with ICC. Levarious Varnado, of Calhoun City, earned the Ratliff Scholarship for sportsmanship. Varnado is also a football signee with ICC.
Alison Childs, of Calhoun City, who will be playing basketball at ICC next year, was honored for selling the most ads for the all star game. V Farmer, of Calhoun City, a Northeast Community College basketball signee, scored 13 points in the girls’ lower classification game.
Calhoun City boys’ basketball coach Daren Coffey was also honored receiving the Class 1A/2A Coach of the Year award for Northeast Mississippi.
