Supervisors can only wait and see if the FAA will approve an electrical renovation project at the county airport after the lone bid came in 50% over the estimate.
“I think they will still approve it,” County Engineer Chodie Myers said.
He urged the board to keep the project open and wait on the FAA because of the importance of the job.
“We have to do this electrical work to replace the beacon, which needs to be done,” Myers said. “The wiring out there is kind of dangerous right now.”
The project was estimated to cost $90,000. The only bid submitted came from Reid Electrical Service for $143,301. If FAA approved, a grant would cover 95% of the project cost.
