Citizen Patsy Zeidman addressed the board with concerns about the sewage contractors and the work they did on the Zeidmans’ property. Mayor J. R. Denton said he would contact the contractors, Greenbrier, and give her a response.

The board approved granting the use of a 30 ft. x 360 ft. strip of city property to Calhoun Health Services for access  for its expansion project with the property to be used only as a driveway for ambulances. It is located on the west side of Medical Art Drive.

They set the regular board meeting of Sept. 2 at 6:30 for the hearing and adoption of the FY 2015 budget and tax levy.
On the matter of a report from Asset Mapping after they had visited Calhoun City, Mayor Denton said  the planners focused on substandard housing that is rental property. He said he is requesting an opinion from the attorney general to see if the city has the authority to do anything about it.

In other action, they repealed Ordinance No. 179 regulating open carry of weapons. The mayor reported that pothole patching is still going on around the city.
They decided against accepting a statewide building code and said they will adopt another instead.
They accepted the resignation of part time police officer Juston Robertson as of July 9.
