The Wildcats enter the 2014 season in a familiar role as one of the favorites to win the north in Class 2A. They return a proven QB, dominant lines on both sides of the ball and are motivated to finish the job in Jackson.

Who’s Back
Offensive starters: 6
Defensive starters: 6

Team Strength
Offensive line and quarterback experience are our strengths. Defensively, our secondary should be strong. Even though we lost our two safeties, we return two starters at corner – Jordan Pratt and Brieton Sykes.

Biggest Concern
Staying healthy and having consistency in the kicking game. We have a new snapper in Blake Simpson and punter Kemon Hall.

Offensive Leaders
Senior QB Chakel Gates accounted for nearly 3,000 yards of offense in 2013. Junior wide receiver Brieton Sykes is among the best athletes in the county, if not all of Class 2A. He recorded nearly 700 yards receiving last year and five touchdowns.

Defensive Leaders
Linebacker Steele Liles, who led the team with 139 tackles in 2013, returns for his senior season. Sykes led the defense last year with six interceptions. Keeshun Bobo, who led the Wildcat defense in forced fumbles last year, also returns.

Key to Success
Our safeties have to be good on defense. Offensively our young running backs have to make a difference.
