Wilborn Delane Johnson, Sr., 85 died Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. He was born December 20, 1928 in Sarepta, the son of the Jessie and Girtie Bonds Johnson. He served in the Army and received several awards for his Service: Bronze Star, Army Commendation, and Good Conduct Medal. He served tours of duty in Korea, Germany, and Vietnam. He was a Member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was a member of Sarepta Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting, and he was an avid fan of Atlanta Braves baseball, Tennessee Titans and Ole Miss Sports.
Surviving are his Wife, Martha Sue Edwards Johnson, Banner; four sons, Wilborn D. (Deb) Johnson, Gulf Breeze, Fl.; David Van (Wanda) Johnson, Olive Branch; Larry Wayne Johnson, Water Valley, and Randy Edward (Tara) Johnson, Peachtree City, GA; 10 grandchildren; six great grand children. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter Johnson, Frank Johnson and Marvin Johnson; four sisters, Bernice Coston, Kathleen Hines, Opal Harrigan and Dorothy Nash.His funeral service was Sunday at 2 p.m. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro.
