Cameron Douglas loves to fire up the crowd, entertain and can apparently withstand really high temperatures.

He does all of that every Friday night as Rowdy the Ram, the mascot for Vardaman High School.

“I love being an entertainer,” said Douglas, a senior at VHS. “When we make a big play and the cheerleaders are cheering and the crowd gets fired up, that’s a lot of fun.”

What’s not always as much fun is the temperature inside the Rowdy suit, particularly this time of the football season.

“It’s hot. I mean it’s really hot,” Douglas said. “When I take the suit off it looks like I just got out of a swimming pool.”

This is his first year as Rowdy. He said he was asked by Mrs. Gaskin if he was interested and he jumped at the chance to entertain.

“I’m having fun,” Douglas said.

Cameron is the son of James and Cristia Douglas. He plans to attend either Ole Miss or Baptist College of Health Science in Memphis next year to major in radiology.

“I’ve always been interested in the medical field and I love taking pictures, so it seemed like a good fit,” he said.
