Wayne Lucius

Funeral services were held Monday at 10 a.m. at Community Baptist Church, 800 Rue De Belier, Lafayette, LA  for Wayne Lucius, 82, who passed away Thursday, Oct.  2, 2014 at 10:56 p.m. at his residence. A resident of Lafayette, La., he was the son of the late Wesley Lucius and the former Myrtie Therell. He lived the last t30 years of his life in Lafayette, where he was employed with Shell Oil Company, in Exploration & Offshore departments. He retired in August 1994 with 40 years of Service. He was a charter member of Community Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He and two more guys from the church worked diligently helping building the church in 1994. He was a outdoors person, who loved gardening, his animals, and fishing, a very devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Reverend Tom Lambert, pastor of Community Baptist Church, Reverend Gary Funderburk, Congregational Care Pastor of The Bayou Church and Reverend Rick Bailey, assistant pastor of Community Baptist Church will conduct the funeral services. The Keller Brothers sang Sweet Sweet Spirit, Amazing Grace, Peace in the Valley, and The Lord’s Prayer. There will be a visitation Tuesday from 1-3 at Pryor Funeral Home in Calhoun City. Graveside service will take place in Crossroads Cemetery in Calhoun City at 3 p.m. Pallbearers will be Danny Lucius, Jeff Lucius, Ricky Sanderford, Mike Sheffield, Chet Endres and David Trent. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jessie Stafford, Jim Turner, Larry Maxwell, Ben Clark and Fred Saucier. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Doris Henry Lucius; his daughter, Shelia A. Ramsey; his grandchildren, Jason D. Ramsey and wife Melissa and Jerrica D. Lucius; his great grandchildren, Casey Ramsey, Brooke Ramsey, Courtland Ramsey, Cicily Ramsey, Briana Lucius and his brothers, Willam Frank “Snap” Lucius, Jim Allen Lucius and wife Patricia. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Geneva Shackelford.
