An anonymous tip aided the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department in recovering items stolen from the Calhoun City Square early last week and an arrest Tuesday.

Carolann Melton, 24, of Vardaman, was arrested Tuesday and charged with petit larceny.
Sheriff Greg Pollan said he received the call after the story came out in last week’s CCJ asking for information about the missing items from a display constructed by Calhoun City Middle School students in preparation for this week’s Egg Bowl Run.
Sheriff Pollan said he followed the tip and found the items that included the Ole Miss football, a few scare crows, lanterns and sunflowers in different locations around Big Creek.
