Dr. King’s legacy honored at annual Loggins Scholarship banquet in Pittsboro

Kegan Coleman spoke on the importance of “intelligence and character,” eight honorees were recognized, and the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was remembered in prayer and song during the annual banquet benefiting the Coach Curtis Loggins Scholarship.

Santee Ezell was honored for her humanitarian efforts. Her award was presented by Toneka Armstrong.

Stephanie Hitt and Rose Diamond represented the Tri-Community Homemakers who were honored for community service.

The Shining Stars gospel group was among this year’s honorees.

Past Loggins Scholarship recipient Cortez Moss, assistant principal in Clarksdale Schools, emceed the event.

2014 Loggins Scholarship recipients Kajah Coleman and Carolyn Marion.

Tina McBride entertained the crowd with two musical numbers.

Kegan Coleman was the featured speaker on the night emphasizing the importance of education.
