Candidate qualifying for Calhoun County races has virtually ground to a halt since the initial rush after qualifying opened Jan. 5.
Only two candidates have qualified since the first 21 signed up to run Jan. 5-6.
Roger Westmoreland, of Calhoun City, qualified to run for sheriff as a Democrat. Mark Hendrix previously qualified for that race as a Democrat. Incumbent Greg Pollan is running as a Republican.
Keith Bollinger, of Bruce, qualified to run for supervisor in district three as a Republican. Incumbent Gwin Longest and Justin Ferguson previously qualified on the Democratic ticket.
Currently, the only other contested races are in supervisor district four, where incumbent Barney Wade-D, of Calhoun City, is being challenged by David Martin-R, of Derma.
Chancery Clerk Romona Tillman-D, of Pittsboro, has one challenger thus far, Republican Jimmy Clemons of Calhoun City.
The last contested race at this point is for constable, post two, where incumbent Benny Langford-D, of Derma, is joined in the race by Republican Barry Cannon, of Derma.
Every incumbent has qualified for all other county positions with no opposition thus far.
Qualifying ends Feb. 27.
