Marks, of Bruce, set a new squat state record for 198 Raw Division (no wraps) in USPA at 529 pounds. Marks also set the total state record with 1,432 pounds. He now owns USPA state records for squat, bench, deadlift and total for 181 and 198 weight classes. Marks is now qualified for the USPA National July 10-12 in Las Vegas. Welch, of Bruce, set the USPA state junior record for 148 Classic Raw (wrapped) Division with a 374 pound squat, 275 pound bench and 413 pound deadlift. Both Marks and Welch will compete Feb. 28 in Northport, Ala. in the USPA “Lifting For A Miracle” event.
