Calhoun County had one new qualifier for 2015 elections over the past week creating another contested race on the ballot.
R.J. Rivera, of Calhoun City, qualified to run for district one supervisor as a Democrat. Incumbent Earnest Fox, also a Democrat, is the only other qualifier in the race at this time.
The ballot now features six contested races. The other five are sheriff, supervisor positions in districts three and four, chancery clerk, and constable post two.
Rivera is the 26th total qualifier for this year’s elections thus far.
The qualifying deadline is Feb. 27.
