A dominating second half propelled the Bruce Lady Trojans to a 56-40 win Tuesday night in the region 4-2A quarterfinals and clinched a berth for them in next week’s playoffs.
The Lady Trojans trailed Okolona 11-8 after the opening period, but rallied to tie the score at the half. Bruce would would outscore the Lady Chieftains 34-16 in the second half to earn a spot in Thursday’s semifinals.
Kalisha Parks led Bruce with 21 points. Abbie Patton scored 19 and Makesha Harris 12. The Lady Trojans will face East Webster Thursday at 4 p.m. Calhoun City will play Eupora in the other semifinal at 7 p.m.
The season came to an end for the boys team as they fell to East Webster 75-44 in Tuesday’s quarterfinal. The Wolverines opened the game on a 15-4 run and were never seriously challenged after that. Bruce trailed 46-18 at the half.
East Webster advanced to play Calhoun City Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Okolona and Eupora meet in the other semifinal Thursday night.
