Calhoun County will honor “SuperHeroes of Hope” this Friday night at the annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life at the Bruce football field.
Opening ceremonies will begin at 6 p.m. and feature the traditional Survivor Lap, Caregiver & Survivor Lap, Team Lap, and then the community joining in to walk around the track. There will be several theme laps throughout the event including purple, hero, pajama, neon and dance.

Among the highlights every year is the Luminaria Ceremony, which will again begin at 8:30 p.m. Luminarias can be purchased for only $10 by contacting Rebecca Grier at (662) 809-1045.
The Luminaria Ceremony will also include Sky Lanterns to light up the sky over Relay. They are available for $25 each. They can be purchased the night of Relay.
This year’s event will conclude at midnight. In case of rain, Relay will relocate to the Arena in Pittsboro. The decision to move if needed will not be made until Friday morning.
