Hill wins district title after playoff with Clarke; Calhoun City team advances to state

Noah Hill won the district golf championship at Pine Hills Tuesday and the Calhoun City golf team advanced to state competition.

Hill, of Calhoun City, and Bruce Trojan Cameron Clarke, of Pittsboro, both shot a 71 to finish in a tie. Hill then won a 3-hole playoff to earn the title. Both will advance to the state championship May 6-7 at The Trace in Tupelo.

Calhoun City’s team won the district title shooting a 326. Jacob Ruth shot 83, Coleman Suber 84 and Cole Gary 88.

Bruce shot a 386, 11 shots two much to qualify for state. They finished second in district. Besides Clarke, other Bruce golfers were Nathan Hill 98, Rudy Ferguson 101, Barrett Box 116 and Austin Winter 119.

East Webster placed third with a 417.
