Mike Winter said Memorial Day remains his goal for opening the county’s first liquor store.
He is awaiting his license from the state to open Pittsboro Liquor and Wine at the northern edge of the county seat’s town limits on Hwy. 9.
Winter said the licensing process typically takes four to six weeks and his application was submitted to the state just over three weeks ago.
“I’ve said all along my goal was Memorial Day and that still appears to be on track,” he said.
Winter said he expects the license to be granted over the next couple weeks and then it will likely take another week or two to get the store stocked and ready to open.
Renovations are complete on the interior of the business. He said all he lacks now is some outside cleanup, getting some gravel delivered for the parking lot and installing signage.
