Sammy Wayne Cumberland, 66, of Houston, died Friday, May 1, 2015, at his home. Born October 28, 1948, he was the son of the late Norman Cumberland and Hazel Pilgrim Cumberland of Calhoun City. He was the husband of the late Judy McKinney Cumberland. He was a graduate of Calhoun City High School class of 1966.
Surviving are mother, Hazel Pilgrim Cumberland, Calhoun City; daughter, Penny Hughes, Grenada; step-daughter Beverly “Jimmy” Edge, Booneville; brothers, Charles “Gail” Cumberland, Big Creek, and Robert “Josi” Cumberland, Calhoun City; grandchild, Amber Michelle Hughes, and step-granchildren, Mathew and Cody Edge. He was preceeded in death by step-son, Samuel Edge, sister, Ann Threadgill.
His funeral service was Monday at 2 p.m. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Bro. Damon Tipton officiating. Interment was in George’s Chapel Cemetery, Houston. Pallbearers were Jason Laster, James McCulla, Tim McCulla, Jared McGraw, Josh McGraw, Paul McGraw and James Paul Winter. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Holder and Terry Langford.
