Derma WalMart Manager Tim Weeks and Support Manager Michelle Good presented the program for the Calhoun City Chamber of Commerce meeting Tuesday at lunch.
“Since opening in January, it’s gone very well,” Weeks said of the Derma Neighborhood Market. “We’ve met and exceeded most all expectations set forth by Walmart.”
Weeks said they are still “tweaking a lot of things to become profitable, but we’re committed to maintaining low prices.”

Good spoke of her visit to the WalMart home office in Bentonville, Arkansas recently for the annual shareholders meeting that included presentations from Reese Witherspoon and Carol Burnett and performances by Rod Stewart and Mariah Carey.

In other chamber news, President Laura Edwards said they are experiencing great turnout for the Walkabout Wednesday farmers’ market each week and invited everyone to come visit the vendors.
Edwards said they’re still working on getting the final sail for the new arbor on the north side of the square and will soon be staining it a darker color to match the wooden benches on the square.

Barbara Goodson showed the new metal art work honoring Ace Cannon to be installed in different places around town, each of which will be painted differently. She also said the town is looking into new welcome signs and considering planting new trees on square this fall.
Judy Moore and Barbara Fox agreed to co-chair the chamber’s Green Committee.
