Vardaman’s Kent Casey earns MML scholarship

Nicholas Kent Casey of Vardaman, was recently awarded the Mississippi Municipal League’s 2015 Limited Scholarship.

The $2000 scholarship is co-sponsored by the Mississippi Municipal Service Company and the Mississippi Municipal League (MML).

Casey recently graduated from Vardaman High School with a 4.0 GPA, where he served as a member of the Beta Club, Mu Alpha Theta, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Student Council, Science Club, Hall of Fame and Future Farmers of America. He has been a member of his county-wide youth council and has also served as captain of the football, baseball and basketball teams.

Casey is very active in his community as a volunteer for the Annual Town Festival Committee and as an AWANA recreational leader. He is an active member of the youth group and men’s ministry at First Baptist Church, Vardaman, where he also serves as a Vacation Bible School teacher.

Casey is the son of Porter and Jean Ann Casey and grandson of Mayor James Marshall Casey and wife Melba. He plans to pursue a degree in Kinesiology/Physical Therapy while attending East Mississippi Community College before furthering his education at Mississippi State University.
