Calhoun City’s new radio station is half-way through a two-month testing phase after which it will be determined whether a permanent station will be installed.

The station, WZNN, can be heard on 102.3 FM and is currently playing a commerical-free older country music format.
The station is being broadcast from a 30-foot antenna behind Bro. Danny Spratlin’s home in southwest Calhoun City. It was installed by Reynolds Broadcasting out of Alabama.

If it’s determined the station will become permanent, a 200 foot tower will be installed.
Spratlin said when he spoke with Paul Reynolds, owner of the broadcasting company, he explained the two month test is required by the FCC as part of the licensing process.

Spratlin said Reynolds told him it would be a small station similar to WJRL in Calhoun City years ago.
Attempts to contact Reynolds for more information were unsuccessful.
