Calhoun County Supervisors approved the purchase of a new truck for the sheriff's department and made plans for the Oct. 5 hearing regarding potential new management for Calhoun Health Services at their Sept. 25 meeting.

The only official business of the day was the sheriff's request for a new vehicle which was approved so it could be bought within the current budget year. The department is purchasing a new Dodge pickup for $27,799 on state contract price.

Board President Barney Wade reminded the board about the public hearing on Oct. 5 at 10 a.m. at the Calhoun County Courthouse seeking public input on a proposal for Calhoun Health Services to seek bids for a new lease agreement for the hospital.

The current contract with North Mississippi Medical Center expires Sept. 30. The hospital board has proposed to the county the possibility of seeking bids for another management contract, or perhaps a lease agreement of the entire physical property. CHS Administrator James Franklin told The Journal in July, when this was first reported, that NMMC and Baptist are both among the interested bidders whichever option the county chooses.
