The Teacher’s Academy II class made flour babies out of flour sacks, stockings, and pillow stuffing. Jennifer Cain, TAII instructor, got the idea to give them a hands-on activity to teach each student human growth and development.
“I like the flour baby project, because it’s a hands- on, interesting way to learn about disabled children. My favorite part about the flour baby is buying cute clothes and items for the baby as well as designing the baby,” said Marley Hood.
The class started the projects October 9 and will be allowed to take them home to take care of them after they finish learning all of the disabilities. The babies have a certain disability, which were chosen by Cain.
These projects are designed to teach responsibility, to help inform students about disabilities, and to have something hands on to help them learn.
