Larry Swanson cites his experience as a Pontotoc County deputy, constable and policeman among reasons he should be Calhoun's next sheriff.
“I would like to start by saying thank you for the vote I received four years ago in the 2011 Sheriff’s race. I was very proud of the vote I received and grateful to my supporters.
“Now I ask you, the voters of Calhoun County, to elect me your next Sheriff.
“I am married to Kathy McDonald Swanson. We have two children, Larry Michael Swanson and his wife Samantha of Big Creek, and Celeste Swanson Hardin and her husband Jon Hardin of Bruce.
“I have 24 years of experience in law enforcement. I served 20 years as Calhoun County Constable Post One, during this time I also served 10 years as a city police officer at the Bruce Police Department. I am currently serving as a deputy for the Pontotoc County Sheriff’s department, where I have been employed for the past four years.
“I attended the police training academy in Pearl, MS, and attended in-service training with the MS Constable Association on a yearly basis.
“As your candidate for sheriff my main concern is making this county a safer place for the citizens. I believe that there are a host of problems on the rise in our county that are related to the trafficking and distribution of drugs, including but not limited to theft and murder.
“If elected, I will work diligently not only to control, but eradicate the drug problem in our county.
“In closing I want to humbly ask you, the voters of Calhoun County to go to the polls on Nov. 3rd and help elect me, Larry R. Swanson, your Sheriff for fair, honest and impartial law enforcement. Together we can make Calhoun County a better and safer place to live and raise a family.”
