Raymond Lewis Sutherland, 74, of Vardaman, died Saturday, October 17, 2015 at home. He was born September 19, 1941 in Vardaman, the son of James Aubrey and Modene Murphree Sutherland. He was owner of P & R in Vardaman. He was a member and retired deacon of Vardaman First Baptist Church. He was also a Mason, loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
Visitation is Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015 from noon until service time at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Vardaman. Bro Archie Goodwin will be officiating. Burial will be in New Liberty Cemetery in Vardaman. Pryor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Woody Barber, Matt Lowe, Doug O’Neil, Rob Hollis, Rusty Clayton and Wayne Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Earl McGreger, Steve Johnson, Charles Thames, Charles Mahan, Josh Sutherland, Tim Boyd, Joey Boyd and Kevin Sutherland.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Sutherland, Vardaman; two sons, Brett (Tammy) Sutherland, Vardaman; Bart (Kari) Sutherland, Oxford; one sister, Sandra (Tom) Brock, Sumerall; one brother, Earnest (Lynn) Sutherland, Germantown; two grandchildren, Joshua Sutherland and Brittney (Rob) Hollis, and one great granddaughter, Harlie Hollis. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, James Sutherland.
