A Calhoun City man is dead following an accident last week.
Jack Dee Sims, 58, died after the vehicle he was traveling in on Highway 9 in Webster County, left the road and hit a culvert last Wednesday around 6:30 p.m., according to Mississippi Highway Patrol Mst. Sgt. Criss Turnipseed,
After the impact, the vehicle flipped and landed on its roof, Turnipseed said.
Sims was partially ejected from the vehicle and was later pronounced dead at the scene by the Webster County coroner.
The accident remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
Services for Sims were Sunday afternoon.
In another accident, Michael Watson, 53, of Bruce, was seriously injured in an accident on Sunday, Nov. 22 near Arpelar, Oklahoma.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Watson was airlifted from the scene to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa and was listed in “critical condition with multiple injuries.”
The accident report said Watson’s 2002 Toyota left the road and struck a tree.
An update on his condition was not available.
