Derma board of aldermen rescinded a bid from last month’s meeting to remove a dead tree on a right of way and re-awarded it last night.
Matthew Collins, C&C Tree Service, was the new bidder at a price of $900 to take the tree down at 109 Church Hill Drive and remove it.
The previous bid winner, Jacob Russell, wanted to be paid in cash for the work. When he was told he would get a 10-99, he backed out of the proposal.
The only other bid received last night was from Professional Tree Services for $1,300.
Alderman A.G. Gibson presided over the meeting in the absence of Mayor Dock Gabbert.
In the only other matter of the meeting, the board approved the purchase of computer antivirus software.
City Hall will be closed Dec. 24--25 for Christmas and Dec. 31--Jan. 1 for New Year’s.
The next board meeting will be Tuesday, Jan. 5.
