Viola Collins Beckett, 87, of Bruce, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at Calhoun Health Services in Calhoun City. She was born February 16, 1926 in Bruce. She was a homemaker, an honorary member and past president of the 20th Century Club. She was a member of the Bruce First Baptist Church and a member of the Young at Heart group.
Her funeral service was Monday at 2 p.m. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce with Dr. Daniel Hathorne officiating. Burial was in Bruce Cemetery. Pallbearers were Caden Austin, Brandon Beckett, Phil Beckett, Robby Beckett, Ryan Beckett, Kyle Clark, Chad King and Robert Oakley.
Survivors include one daughter, Charlotte Beckett (Robert Edward) Oakley, Bruce; two sons, Jerry (Sherry) Beckett, and Jim (Susan) Beckett, Bruce; one sister, Cuvis Cooner, Bruce; daughter-in-law, Patricia Beckett Sims, Dallas, Tx.; nine grandchildren, Phil Beckett, Oxford; Brandon Beckett, Knoxville; Robby Beckett, Dallas; Ryan Beckett, Jackson; Robert Oakley, Huntsville, Al.; Suzanne Oakley, Bruce; Ashley Soliz, Cleveland; Claire Claire, Bruce; Rebecca King, Oxford, and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Willie Bollinger Collins; her husband,
Wilbern Beckett; one son, Rodney Beckett, and one brother, J.W. Collins.
