A Calhoun City man avoided injury Thursday afternoon when the truck and trailer he was driving on Hwy. 8 east of Derma crashed off the side of the road.
Eddie Armstrong said he was forced to slam on brakes after coming over a hill when a log truck in front of him stopped in the highway.
Armstrong’s vehicle left the road, coming to a stop as it crashed into a wooded area at the bottom of the road embankment.
Armstrong said the log truck left the scene of the accident.
He suffered no injuries in the 4 p.m. accident.
The accident is under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
