•Pleasant Agers will meet at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Calhoun County Wednesday, Nov. 20. Meet and greet at 11:30, pot luck meal at noon. Bro. Ron, French Camp Radio Station is guest speaker. Church is four miles west of Bruce on CR 231 across railroad on left.

•Yalobusha Historical Society will meet Thursday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m. in the old Presbyterian Church in Coffeeville. Jill Smith from New Albany will speak on the history of quilts. Visitors are welcome.

•QUICK BITES Thursday, Nov. 21, from noon-1 p.m. at the Multi-Purpose Building in Pittsboro. Shade Trees in the Home Landscape.

•VIETNAM VETERANS LUNCH… VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 5571 invites all Vietnam soldiers and widows in Calhoun County to the VFW Post 5571 in Bruce Saturday, Nov. 23 at 11:30 for lunch and entertainment. •NAACP BANQUET November 23, 6 p.m., multi-purpose building in Pittsboro. Admission $5. Keynote speaker Dr. James Sulton, guest speaker Dorothy Valliant. Musical guests include COGIC praise team and the Sensational Shining Stars.

•BENEFIT HORSE RIDE Saturday, Nov. 23 beginning at 10 a.m. 153 CR 413. For info, call John Tucker 983-0772.

•MASTER GARDENERS/GARDENER’S DELIGHT meeting will be Monday, Nov. 25, at 6:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Building. Planning meeting with a potluck meal. Everyone is welcome to bring their favorite dish, enjoy food and fellowship while planning next year’s programs.

•MHV COUNCIL will be held Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 9 a.m. at the Multipurpose Building. No Leader Training, but MHV Awards Planning Meeting at 10 a.m. following Council. All MHV members are to help plan Calhoun County MHV Awards Luncheon that will be held on January 18.

•EXCEL Tai Chi class Tuesdays Nov. 26-Dec 17 at 6 :30 p.m. Gentle movements that promote balance and health, closing with guided relaxation for stress reduction. Comfortable clothing. Cost $5, each class.

•Bruce Library will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 27- Friday, Nov. 29 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

•Calhoun City Public Library will be closed Wednesday-Saturday, Nov. 27-30 for Thanksgiving. Regular hours will resume Monday Dec. 1.

•Managing Wild Pig Damage in Mississippi program will be Thursday, Dec. 5, at the Pontotoc County Extension Office from 8:45 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Registration fee $20, due by December 2. Lunch provided. Registered foresters, loggers and wildlife biologists can receive professional credit hours for workshop. Registration fees to Mississippi State University and sent to Pontotoc County Extension Office, 402 C.J. Hardin Jr. Drive, Pontotoc, MS 38863.

•FOOD FOR FAMILIES FOOD DRIVE… Calhoun County Extension Office is again participating in the WTVA Food for Families Food Drive. Please bring in any canned good or non- perishable food item and place in the container. All donated items will stay in Calhoun County.

•HAPPY HOMEMAKERS MHV CLUB COOKBOOKS… Happy Homemakers have complied recipes from club members and local residents for “Tried and True-New and Old” cookbook. Books can be purchased from any member, Extension Office or Millie Goforth at 628-6260.

•Bruce Christmas Parade, sponsored by the Bruce Lions Club will be Saturday,  Dec. 7 at 4:30 p.m.  Theme is “Red, White, and Blue Christmas” in memory of Pearl Harbor Day, December 7, 1941. First, second and third place prizes will be awarded to decorated floats. To participate call Jerry Janci at 662-412-2029. Deadline to register is November 30.

•VARDAMAN Christmas Parade will be Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. Line-up behind Methodist Church at 6:30. Robert Earl McGregor is grand marshal. Theme is Christmas on Main III. For info, 414-0602.

•SWEET POTATO LOG ROLLS… Calhoun County 4-H Livestock Club is making and selling sweet potato log rolls for $12 each. Log rolls will be sold through the middle of December. To place an order, see any 4-H Livestock Club member or call Trent Barnett, 4-H Youth Agent,  at the Calhoun County Extension Office at 412-3177.

•YANCY LIBRARY HOLIDAY SILENT AUCTION is underway through Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 4 p.m. A variety of items are up for bid – from toys to home décor. The Annual Holiday Silent Auction is sponsored by Friends of the Bruce Library.

•14th REDNECK CHRISTMAS PARADE in Big Creek is Saturday, Dec. 14 at 6 p.m. Lineup at 5 p.m. Rain or shine. $100 to #1 redneck. Call 628-6882 after 5 for info.

•26th LOGGINS’ SCHOLARSHIP/MLK BANQUET will be Saturday, Jan. 18, at 6 p.m. at the Multi-Purpose Building in Pittsboro. Banquet tickets are $12.

•SASSY SPARROWS breast cancer support group meets every third Saturday of the month from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Baptist Cancer Center in Oxford. For more info, call 513-9609.

•CALHOUN ANTIQUE TRACTOR CLUB meets the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. The club will meet at the Vardaman Sweet Potato Festival building. Danny Tutor is club president. For more info, call 682-7594. Everyone is invited.
