Bruce Chamber of Commerce Secretary Carol Shoemaker is settling into her new office after the organization relocated its headquarters to inside the Bruce Museum.
“We’re really excited to be here inside the museum and on the square,” Shoemaker said. “I’ve had people coming by every day since moving in.”
For more than two decades the chamber office was located inside Bruce Telephone Company offices – first on the front facing the square and most recently in the BTC-owned house directly behind the office on Johnson Street.
“Bruce Telephone Company has always been an integral part of this chamber,” Shoemaker said. “They continue to be one of our greatest supporters.”
The move to the museum opens up a lot of new opportunities for the chamber, Shoemaker said, including being in a better position to welcome visitors to town.
“In just the short time I’ve been here I’ve had people coming in often to see inside the museum building, to check on renting the space or just to get some information,” Shoemaker said. “As more people see that we’re here I think that will only increase.”
Rickie Vaughn led the construction effort of the new office inside the Museum. New signage will soon be going up on the square to identify the chamber office. The phone number (983-2222) and mailing address are unchanged.
