Tom Walter Doolittle, 88, of Calhoun City, died November 28, 2013 at State Veterans Home in Oxford. He was born June 23, 1925 in Slate Springs, the son of Samuel Boyd and Maude Moreland Doolittle. He was co-owner of Cliff Colbert Chevrolet-Olds and was a member of Calhoun City First Baptist Church. He was a WWII?Navy Veteran. Funeral service was Saturday at 1 p.m. at Calhoun City First Baptist Church in Calhoun City with Rev. Jimmy Vance and Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Burial was in Bethany Cemetery in Slate Spring. Pallbearers were grandsons, James Wood, Kyle Doolittle, Nicholas Thomas, Kurt Richards; sons-in-law Frank Hilleke and Kenny Thomas. Pryor Funeral Home of Calhoun City was in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his wife, Waldine Doss Putman Doolittle, Calhoun City; one daughter, Susie Wood, Grenada; one son, Barry (Jayne) Doolittle, Grenada; two step-daughters, Shelia (Frank) Hilleke, Snellville,?Ga.; Candace (Kenny) Thomas, McCalle, AL; three grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lorraine Hardin Doolittle; a brother, Donald Doolittle, and a step-son, Lonnie Putman.
