Marie Barton Brasher Lofton, 95, of Jonesboro, Ar., died February 13, 2014. She was born October 6, 1918 in Derma, the daughter of Leo and Ora Lee Pyron Barton. She graduated from Baptist Memorial Hospital nursing school in 1939 and worked several years as a private duty nurse before joining the nursing staff of Veterans Hospital in Memphis, from which she retired in the early 1980s. She was a very active member of Cherry Road Baptist Church in Memphis until her failing health caused her to move to an assisted living home in Jonesboro, Ar. Visitation will be Saturday from noon until time of her funeral service at 2 p.m. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce with Bro. Bill Baker officiating. Burial will be in Bruce Cemetery. Survivors include a brother, Roy L. (Jane)?Barton, Germantown, Tn., and her step-daughter, Mary Lou (Jerry)?Pickering, Jonesboro, Ar., and step-son, Mike (Sharon)?Lofton, North Little Rock, Ar.; five step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren, whom she all loved. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Wayne H. Brasher and Woodrow W. Lofton; two brothers, Col. Claude D. Barton and Leroy Barton, and her step granddaughter, Christy Pickering.
