Ladean Box, 89, of Bruce, died April 29, 2014 at his home. he was born September 3, 1924 in Houlka, the son of W. Terry Box and Roxie Brasher Box. He was a WWII?U.S. Navy Veteran, retired farmer and cattleman. He was a member of Bruce First Baptist Church, DAV, V.F.W., and Bruce Antioch Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. His graveside service will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Bruce Cemetery with Dr. Daniel Hathorne officiating. Burial will be with military honors. Parker Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his wife, Melba Ferguson Box, Bruce; one daughter, Bobbye (Larry) Mason, Bruce; two brothers, Roy (Betty) Box, Bruce, and Paul Box, Memphis; one sister, Ora Mae Ferguson, Bruce; two granddaughters, LaDeana (Mike) Hood, Brandon, and Elizabeth (Matthew) Brinson, Brandon; three great-grandchildren, Mason Hood, Michael Hood and Hayes Brinson. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Williams Welch, Hazel Snellings, Floy Ruth Parker, and three brothers, Durant, Ray, and Hoyt Box.
