Ernestine (Tina) B. Miller-Simmons, of Alexandria, VA, died August 14, 2014 after suffering a fall and several years of declining health. Born on September 17, 1929, in Calhoun City, to Blandina and Ernest Bounds, Tina served in the U.S. Air Force as an Airman 1st Class. She married Ronald “Tiny” D. Miller (USAF retired) who died 1978. The Air Force took Tina and Tiny to Germany and a host of other locations before they eventually settled in Alexandria, VA. Tina was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, friend and Federal Employee. She retired, in 1985, after 34 years of Federal service, from the National Technical Information Service, Department of Commerce as a Foreign Technology Specialist. Tina’s second husband and best friend, Everette C. Simmons died in October of 1989. Tina and Everette enjoyed traveling and golfing with their many friends. Some of Tina’s other favorite past-times were, sitting down with a good book or the morning crossword puzzle, socializing and spending time with family, neighbors and friends. Tina will be especially remembered for her quick wit and spirit of adventure which made her the light of all our lives. Tina is survived by her cherished daughter, Anna Lisa Miller (Jerry Furney), and step-daughters, Ruthdae Scott (Ronnie Scott), Donna Harper (Marshall Harper); devoted grandchild Zachary Furney, step-grandchildren, Carolyn Jones, Everette Scott (Hanna Scott), Linda Scott and Carrie Jo Fox (Kevin Fox), 7 step-great-grandchildren and many other members of her extended family. Memorial service and interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
