The Calhoun City mayor and board of aldermen briefly discussed a request for culverts to be installed in a ditch and complaints about the gray rock installed on city streets during a brief meeting Tuesday night.
Mayor Denton said he had a request from a citizen for culverts to be installed and the ditch covered over on some property in town, but aldermen were concerned about potential damage to the street due to drainage without the ditch. They agreed to ask the city engineer to look at it.
They also said they had some complaints about the dust caused by the. Gray rock installed on city streets.
“Some of my friends complaining forgot about the potholes they had before,” Mayor Denton said.
Other items approved by the board:
•appointed Tommy Hallum to replace Library Board member Robert Gaston who is resigning at end of December.
•approved annual software maintenance contracts with BBI totaling $7,180.
•agreed to renew CDs at local bank with highest interest rate.
•accepted resignation of Bailey Gordon as meter reader.
•agreed to advertise for city depository bids.
