Clanton re-appointed board attorney, Fleming purchasing clerk

The board of supervisors reappointed their attorney and purchasing clerk and approved a request from election commissioners in their first meeting of 2015 on Monday.

Sonny Clanton was reappointed board attorney and Sheryl Fleming purchasing clerk, both unanimously, to open the meeting.
The board then approved a request from the election commissioners to remove the printers from the nearly 50 voting machines.

Circuit Clerk Carlton Baker explained Calhoun is one of the few counties that has the printers attached to the machines and the routinely cause problems on election days with paper jams and other issues.
The board also approved a new maintenance contract for $3,000 annually with RBM Consulting for all electronic election equipment.

Sheriff Greg Pollan was authorized to hire Cody Jenkins as a part-time jailer. Pollan explained due to family health issues with three of his other jailers, he needed the additional part-time position to help fill gaps.
The board approved a proposal from Willis Engineering for services at the county airport for the next five years. Willis’ proposal was the only one submitted to the board.

County Engineer Chodie Myers, who works with Willis, said there are currently no projects planned at the airport.
