We continue our tour around Calhoun County spring football practice checking in on all four schools.
Coach Tim Melton steers the blocking sled as his Calhoun Academy Cougars work during practice Monday afternoon. Calhoun Academy will host Strider and North Sunflower Friday night. The Cougars will play with a 20 minute running clock beginning at 4:30 p.m. and then approximately 5 p.m. and host a steak supper afterwards. Admission to the football games is $5.

Vardaman running back Deon Johnson, the Rams’ leading returning rusher from last season, runs through the hole during the Rams’ practice last Friday. Vardaman has over 20 players out this spring. They will host Ethel on Thursday, May 14 in a spring game.
