Librarian Emily Sutherland is leaving the Jesse Yancy Memorial Library in Bruce to accept a position as assistant director of the Dixie Regional Library System in Pontotoc.

Sutherland, who has been librarian in Bruce for the past eight years, is scheduled to start in her new position July 1.
“It’s a great opportunity for me, but there’s definitely some mixed emotions,” Sutherland said. “I will miss the people here. I try not to think about it.”
Sutherland said she and husband Robert and their eight-week old daughter plan to remain in Bruce.
An exact timetable on when Sutherland’s successor for the Yancy Library in Bruce will be hired is not certain. Applications for the position are being accepted through June 20.
