Chief Kenny Scott said one black male entered the store around 3:30 a.m. wielding a knife. The two employees in the store fled the scene, running to a nearby house where authorities were called.

Policeman Josh Hughes, who was working a minor car accident near Waide, Inc. on Hwy. 8, was first on scene, followed shortly by Scott.

Scott said surveillance tape showed the robber was a black man, approximately six feet tall weighing 160 pounds. He was wearing a black hoodie with a green bandana, jeans and white tennis shoes. He drove up in a small sedan.

Scott said they recovered the knife that was dropped outside and will test it for fingerprints while they also study security video from other stores in the area for more information.

Scott said neither of the two store employees were injured. The robber escaped with approximately $850.
