Luther C. Glaspie was born in Calhoun County June 26, 1932 to the late Cater and Emma Glaspie, and he died August 28, 2015. He was a member of Bryant Chapel MB Church. He married Martha Nell Bean and to this union two children were born, Mae Francis and Annie Mae. He married Dessie Kimble and they had four children: C.L., James L., Bobbie Ellen and John L. He later married Mae Emma Freelon and they had six children: Jerry, John, Danny, Barry, Donna and Dorothy Jean.
His funeral service was September 3 at Bryant Chapel MB Church in Pittsboro with Pastor Anthony Edwards officiating. Interment was in Clear Springs CME Church Cemetery in Pittsboro.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his children, Jerry Glaspie, John L. Glaspie, Francis (Edward Earl) Petty, Donna Glaspie, John (Linda) Glaspie, Pittsboro; Barry (Barbara) Glaspie, C.L. Glaspie, James L. Glaspie, all of Bruce; Annie Mae Glaspie, Milwaukee, Wi.; Danny (Tonya) Glaspie, Ecru; Edna Jones, Calhoun City; sister, Emma Cook, Pittsboro; step-children, Thomas (Denetia) Glaspie, Robert Freelon and Faye Freelon, Pittsboro; Tony Bean and Richard (Elaine) Freelon, Bruce; special friend, Eddie Jr. Brownlee, Bruce; 25 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, daughters, Dorothy Jean Glaspie and Bobbie Ellen Hych; great grandson, Martavious Belim; brothers, James and Howard Glaspie; sisters, Vator Glaspie Howard and Earlen Glaspie, and step-son, Larry Freelon.
