Greg Pollan makes the following statement to the voters of Calhoun County:
“I would like to start by saying ‘Thank You’ to the voters of Calhoun County who gave me their vote of support and confidence in 2011. It is with that support and vote that I went to work the very first day to build a sheriff’s office that would work for the people and to make our county a safer place for all our families. I am once again here to ask you for your continued support and for your vote on November 3.

“My philosophy from the start was to have the citizens involved in our agency as much as possible. That’s why we adopted the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS)  philosophy. That philosophy of police work is where you build relationships with the community to solve our problems. We work with the community and not against it; and that philosophy has paid off and continues to pay off everyday. The COPS philosophy, along with my open door policy where I make myself accessible to you, makes citizens feel comfortable sharing information with myself and the deputies, and we are better able to investigate and fight crime in your community.

"We have made many changes and improvements not only to the sheriff’s office, but also to the jail in our first term. Each of those changes were made to be more efficient, save money and to better serve the citizens of this county. We have been able to add new radios, an Automated Fingerprint System (AFIS), computers and printers all at no cost to you, the taxpayer. We added a smartphone app that allows us to more quickly keep the public informed. We launched a much improved website that provides critical information about our agency for our citizens and for other law enforcement agencies around the nation. We make regular posts on social media of information that you need to be informed about and to stay safe. We have upgraded the jail facilities and now regularly pass state inspection from three different agencies on a quarterly basis. This is only a short list and we will continue to work toward modernizing your sheriff’s office to meet the needs of the citizens and for all law enforcement and emergency personnel in our county.

“We have made many strides forward in a short time, but the job is not complete. I will continue to work with federal, state and local leaders to increase the number of deputies that we currently have so that we can better cover the county and more aggressively go after the criminals. We will also continue to build working relationships and partnerships with federal, state and local law enforcement to better serve you.
The citizens of Calhoun County deserve professionally trained law enforcement officials. I have that training. I have the education and I have the experience to continue to lead your sheriff’s office. I am the only candidate in this race that has a bachelors degree in Public Administration, the only candidate that is a Certified Criminal Investigator by the state of Mississippi, the only candidate that is a graduate of the National sheriff’s Institute and the only candidate that has experience leading your sheriff’s office and being your sheriff.

“The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is a small agency with monumental responsibilities. Due to that fact, I have not had the privilege of running a door to door campaign. Although I miss the personal interaction with so many of you, I would not be adequately performing my duties as your sheriff if I took time away to do so.
“Calhoun County deserves continued professionally trained, educated and proven law enforcement leadership. So I humbly ask that you take this as my personal plea in asking for your vote and continued support on November 3.
“Thank you and God bless.”
