His employment is effective today, Wednesday, and he replaces Kenneth White, who resigned. Pounders is certified as part-time, according to Calhoun City Police Chief Tito Lopez.

A donation of five Stinger Streetlight flashlights was made to the police department by Blue Lives Matter, since bullet proof vests had already been gotten through a grant. Lopez said the department would like to get a Dodge Charger to replace the totaled 2006 Ford-150 police truck.

Following a smoke test on the sewer line in the Gore Street area, multiple areas there have problems and much of those are under concrete. Rather than using the grant money to make the repair, it was agreed after Denton talked with Chodie Myers of Willis Engineering to apply for a CDBG grant to replace the line.

The board amended basic sewer tap costs to $200 from $150, and an advanced tap (water or sewer) would be at cost, with a minimum of $350. They also voted to take bids on a 1998 Chevy C-700 2-ton truck, and to house the rescue team boat, motor and scuba gear at Sabougla Fire Department, due to lack of space at Calhoun City.
