Nora Natalie Hutchings James, 82, of Gore Springs, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015 at home. She was born August 22, 1933 in Clark Co., IL, the daughter of Hubert and Cecil Rhodes Hutchings. She and her family moved to Grenada when her father was assigned as a contractor to work on the Grenada Dam and Lake in 1952, and there she met and married her husband, Thomas James. They were married 62 years. She was a secretary for Willis Engineering. She was a member of Bradford Chapel Baptist Church, where she was very active in her church. She was involved in missions, and she served for years as a Sunday School teacher and leader of youth and children’s activities. She was also choir director for a number of years, and she also served as choir director for 15 years at Sabougla Baptist Church. She was very devoted to her church, friends and family who remember her fondly. She enjoyed singing, playing the piano, cooking & participating in church activities. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015 from 10 a.m. until service time at Bradford Chapel Baptist Church in Calhoun County. Funeral service will be Saturday, Dec. 5 at 11 a.m. at Bradford Chapel Baptist Church in Calhoun County with Rev. Owen Hitchcock and Rev. Jon Haimes officiating. Burial will Bradford Chapel Cemetery in Calhoun Co. Pryor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be her grandson, Wade Henderson, and nephews, Tim Stewart, Rick Stewart, Larry Stewart, Terry Stewart, and Carl Booth Denton.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas James, Gore Springs; a daughter, Beth (Glen) Stevens, Greenwood; two grandchildren, Wade Bradford Henderson, Greenwood, and Molly Elizabeth Henderson, Oxford; one sister, Joan Stewart, Pelham, AL, eight nieces and five nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, John Hutchings, and her parents, Hubert and Cecil Rhodes Hutchings.
