Melba Lee Thrash Barton, 86, of Hohenwald, TN, formerly of Coffeeville, passed away Monday, November 18, 2013. She was born July 25, 1927 in Oklahoma. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Coffeeville. During her many years as a pastor’s wife, she taught the young married women’s Sunday School Class at Hollywood Baptist Church in Memphis, TN. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 11 AM at First Baptist Church in Coffeeville with Dr. Mark LaRue officiating. Interment will follow in the Goshen Cemetery near Coffeeville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Survivors include two sons, Charles D. Barton, Goodlettsville, TN and David A. Barton of Hohenwald, TN; one daughter, Mary E. (David) McRight, Hohenwald, TN; one brother, Lawrence Gee, Marlow, OK; three sisters, Maudine Boren, Altus, OK; Betty Jo Thrash and Carol McCaskill, both of Marlow, OK; a sister-in-law, Margie Wolfe, Cascilla; 9 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Martin Cooper Barton; her parents, Guy Thrash and Minnie Tyler Gee; step-father, Lacey Gee; a son, Ray Barton and two daughters, Cynthia Ann LaRue and Doris Jean Ebert.
