The City of Bruce acquired the Cinema 22 property on the Bruce Square Monday afternoon for the price of $36,000 at a public auction in front of the courthouse in Pittsboro. Four others in attendance bid on the theater before yielding to Bruce Mayor Rudy Pope’s bid. City officials have said they plan to utilize the theater for community programs. Photo by Joel McNeece
